Benefits of Tomatoes and Broccoli to Kill Cancer Cells
Vegetables are one source of nutrition for the body, not to mention broccoli
and tomatoes. In both types of vegetables, many contained antioxidant
substances that can counteract a number of free radicals cause disease,
especially cancer.
Broccoli contains sulforaphane which is known to have the ability to fight cancer cells and tumors. But great, this substance does not damage the body cells that are still healthy. While the benefits of tomatoes to overcome cancer due to the content of antioxidants in it called Lycopen which has a role such as sulforaphane in broccoli, which are equally efficacious in fighting the development of cancer cells in the body.
Eating broccoli and tomatoes separately, remain effective in
warding off cancer cells. But if both are combined, then the benefits will be
stronger in killing cancer cells. This has been demonstrated in a study conducted
by the University of Illinois and published in the Journal Of Cancer research,
where the study says that the lycopene in tomatoes and sulforaphane in broccoli
when combined, then both will be a great combination to prevent cancer.
The study was carried out by implanting prostate cancer
cells in some mice, then the rats were treated differently in feeding, where
the first group of rats was given a diet containing tomato powder and broccoli
powder @ 10%; the second group of rats was given only tomato powder, and the
rest is only given broccoli powder.
From the results of this study, it is known that the first
group of mice to get an encouraging results, where prostate tumors contained in
their bodies faster shrink when compared with groups of mice second and third.
For humans themselves, the researchers explained that for
men, it is recommended to consume 2.5 cups of raw tomatoes and 1.4 cups of raw
broccoli to get the same benefits. This is certainly very beneficial for cancer
patients, especially if cancer of their body can be detected early.
